The core problem
nobody solved.
To engineer invisibility, we first built a model of the observer. Four pillars define avian vision. Every one of them invalidates the legacy category.
Tetrachromacy
4 cone photoreceptor classes vs. the human 3. A fundamentally higher-dimensional color space that renders RGB-optimized patterns transparent.
▸ Every duck sees a channel you can't even imagine.
UV Sensitivity
Direct UV photoreception extends visual range into wavelengths invisible to humans. Reflectance differences your eyes cannot detect become high-contrast targets to waterfowl.
▸ Your old jacket reads as a porch light at 50 yards.
Temporal Resolution
Higher flicker fusion thresholds make subtle motion legible to birds at speeds humans perceive as still. The flinch you didn't feel is the signal they did.
▸ The flinch you didn't feel. They saw it twice.
Edge Detection
Specialized retinal circuitry tuned to discontinuity. Continuous outlines and coherent silhouettes register as predator. Disruption is not aesthetic — it is escape.
▸ A clean shoulder line is a predator outline. Always.
The fourth
channel.
Decompose any fabric into R, G, B, and U. Legacy camo is engineered against the first three. The fourth is where you've been losing birds for decades.
Reflectance · per channel
// UXVanish flattens the U channel below the wetland baseline. The bird never sees you.
// toggle to see what your current pattern looks like to a mallard.
A pattern optimized to minimize distance in 3D space can simultaneously maximize distance in 4D.
Three channels. Calibrated to a human observer that does not pull the trigger.
Four channels, weighted to the actual observer. The U term is the one nobody else minimizes.
Waterfowl do not see camo as a discrete event.
They run a continuous predictive inference engine.
Detection is not a threshold crossed by appearance. It is the accumulation of prediction error over time and across channels. UXVanish does not try to look like the marsh. It collapses the difference between observed and expected signal until the inference engine reports nothing — because there is nothing to report.
How legacy camo
betrays you.
UV Reflectance Mismatch
F01Legacy fabric reflects 18 to 35% in 320 to 400 nm. To Anatidae, you glow.
Edge Coherence
F02Continuous outlines equal predator silhouette. We fragment ∇P.
Wrong Texture Distribution
F03Real wetlands follow 1/f. Legacy patterns don't. The mismatch is visible.
Motion Discontinuity
F04Avian temporal resolution: around 120 Hz. Any motion vector that doesn't match the field lights up.
